Open Position - Gas Well Coordinator #3159 - City of Arlington

This position will close on April 11, 2011.

$4,529 - $5,661 per month depending on experience. Full-Time position available - M-F 8am to 5pm. Under general direction responsible for performing gas well site inspection for the purpose of issuing gas well and drilling productions permits, perform other technical gas well inspections to ensure compliance with the gas well ordinance, other regulations and ordinances, and city zoning code during the productive life of gas wells; to provide information and assistance to developers, contractors and the general public regarding gas wells, resolve issues relating to building or gas well code compliance; and to perform a variety of technical tasks in the assigned area of responsibility. Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Physical or Earth Sciences, or a related discipline plus 2 years experience in gas exploration, drilling and production. Possession of a valid Texas Operator's License, required.

Open Position - Trip Planner Coordinator - Fort Worth Transportation Authority

Fort Worth Transportation Authority has an immediate opening for a Trip Planner Coordinator to work under the general supervision of the Director of Planning. This position will assist in advancing the development of transit information and trip planning tools for The T and will monitor the following geographic information including all necessary attributes:route patterns, bus stop locations, and street segments throughout the service area.

Oversee the maintenance and analysis of ridership data that is collected via surveys and automatic passenger counters to determine optimal placement of stops, transfer points and routes. Coordinate with the Planning, Operations, and MITS (Paratransit) departments to respond to request for information or database updating. Assist in the development design, creation and maintenance of databases, maps, and other related projects. Conduct mapping research in the field and in the office. Developing and maintaining database of bus stop signs and amenities using ArcGIS, Arcview, MS Access, MS Excel, Trapeze and SPSS software; administering GPS programs; and planning short and long range projects. Transportation planning and scheduling principles is preferred.

REQUIREMENTS: BS in Information Technology, Database Management, Geographic Information Systems or a related discipline and completion of a graduate level degree in Urban Planning or IT related field of study is preferred. Working towards a graduate level degree in these fields of study will also be considered. The starting salary range is between $22.36 and $33.54 with a maximum of 29 hours per week.

Open Position - City of Arlington Planning Project Manager II

This position will close on April 8, 2011.
$5,361 - $6,701 per month depending on experience. Full -Time position available - M-F 8am to 5pm. Under nominal direction, oversees and directs the activities of other planning staff responsible for performing planning assignments, and acts as project manager and project coordinator on long-range plans and studies and current planning activities, including negotiating professional service agreements, monitoring consultant contracts, preparing and presenting staff reports and ordinance revisions and providing technical planning and zoning assistance to the public and city departments. Bachelor's Degree in urban and regional planning, geography/GIS, political science/public administration, architecture, environmental science, landscape architecture, business or related field plus six (6) years related experience including one (1) year progressively responsible supervisory experience; or a Master's Degree in urban and regional planning, geography/GIS, political science/public administration, architecture, environmental science, landscape architecture, business, or related field and four years related experience including one (1) year progressively responsible supervisory experience. AICP required within two (2) years of employment. Must successfully complete pre-employment screen including criminal background check.

2012 Texas APA Conference Committees

The Midwest Section is the official host of the 2012 Texas APA Conference, which will be held in October 2012 at the Worthington Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. In conjunction with the State Chapter, the Midwest Section is seeking volunteers interested in serving on the conference planning committee. There are many different aspects of the conference that the Section will be in charge of handling. During the last conference in 2005, some of those included social events, publicity, programs, mobile workshops, budget, sponsors and exhibitors, transportation and on-site volunteers.
