Texas LID Workshops: DFW Region

Presented by the Center for Research in Water Resources & the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, these FREE workshops will offer an in-depth introduction to the economic benefits, ecological goals, planning techniques, design principles, analytical methodologies, and implementation strategies for monitoring results of the innovative LID technology for stormwater management.

Three national stormwater and LID experts will be speaking: Mr. Larry S. Coffman, Dr. Michael Barrett and Mr. David Dods. National LID expert Mr. Coffman has over 36 years of experience in stormwater management and is considered the nation's foremost expert on LID technologies and programs. Dr. Barrett has been a leader in stormwater and LID research for many years, focusing recently on pervious pavements and pollutant uptake by plants and media in biofiltration systems. Mr. Dods is a senior environmental engineer with the URS Corporation and leads the 10,000 Rain Gardens Initiative in Kansas City.

The D/FW Region workshop will discuss how LID can help address impairments in the Upper and West Forks of the Trinity River. A detailed agenda and flyer are linked.

Midwest Section Hosting the 2012 Texas APA Conference

The Midwest Section is the official host of the 2012 Texas APA conference, which will be held October 3-5, 2012 at the Worthington Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. In conjunction with the State Chapter, the Midwest Section has created a conference planning committee to coordinate many of the local aspects of the conference. Subcommittees were created to handle specific tasks such as programs, Planning Commissioner short course, mobile workshops, social events, publicity, transportation, on-site volunteers and student activities.
